13,500 professionals cannot be wrong as members of the Association of Clinical Research Professionals. The ACRP spring annual meeting was quite dynamic - check out their site. This group certifies clinical trial professionals in the area of Clinical Research Coordinator(study coordinator) and Clinical Research Associates (monitor) after they meet professional eligibility requirements they can test for certification. Many educational training courses are offered so take advantage of this organization.

The Job
The definition of the elements of the Clinical Research Associate (CRA) role shows great diversity across the pharmaceutical and service sector industries. Nevertheless, these components all contribute to the same common purpose of facilitating the conduct of clinical trials to the recognised standard of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) , in order to generate acceptable safety and efficacy data in the most efficient manner, in order to either support the registration of the product or subsequent marketing. The CRA is key to performing successful clinical trials and therefore, is engaged in a vast array of activities. Some typical examples can be divided into three stages of the clinical trial process as shown in the table below.

A monitor\'s duties may include, but are not limited to, helping to plan and initiate a study, and assessing the conduct of studies.
